The work will be done in two different places. One part will include some manual outdoor work in the surroundings of the old building of Vardø Museum, Lushaugen, mostly cutting grass etc. The second part of the work will be near Kiberg, 13 km from Vardø. Here we will do some mapping of the surroundings by drones and photography.

Inside the old building of Vardø Museum, Lushaugen. There are rooms at disposal for the volunteers, as well as kitchen and bathrooms. The house is situated near the centre of Vardø.

Vardø

Vardø is a small town in the very northeast of Norway. It has app. 2000 inhabitants. It is the oldest town of northern Norway, situated on an island in the Barents sea. The distance from Oslo to Vardø is about 2000 kilometres, so you need to estimate some extra costs for travelling there. Vardø has lots of history to offer visitors, amongst others memorials from World War 2, the northmost fortress of Europe and a monument in memorial of execution of women considered witches. Another aspect of Vardø is its nature, with various kinds of birds nesting and good opportunities for hiking. Vardøhus Museumsforening is a voluntary organisation in Vardø. One of its present projects is refurbishing the old building of Vardø Museum, called Lushaugen, and old bunkers from World War 2 at Kibergneset.
