Hard manual work. During the build-up, volunteers will provide logistical help: installing water and electricity, installing fences around the festival grounds, stages, backstage, kitchen, bar, etc. After these tasks are completed, volunteers will help with putting the final touches to the festival: decoration, attaching posters…
During the festival volunteers will be completely free of any work in order to attend the concerts and enjoy the festival life! After the festival has been concluded (i.e. as of Monday July 10), volunteers will assist in dismantling and cleaning the festival ground. After concluding the clean-up (typically 2, maximum 3 days), the remainder of the camp will be devoted to cultural visits in the region and to some cities in Belgium.
Volunteers will be accommodated in a building located next to the festival. There will be a cooking team who will cook for all the volunteers. Volunteers will need to bring a mattress and a sleeping bag and will be sleeping on floor level. There will be bicycles provided in order for them to move around.

Na Fir Bolg is a three-day family oriented alternative music festival organized in the Flemish Region. The first edition of this festival was organized in 1996, as a fundraiser for several environmental organizations. Throughout the years the festival grew but the spirit of the festival didn’t change. Nowadays there are two stages which provide a variety of local and international folk music. About 15,000 visitors come to enjoy the friendly atmosphere. People involved are all volunteers, committed to bringing an alternative to the big commercial festivals. The profits of the festival go to environmental and other charity organizations. This year the festival takes place from July 7th to 9th.
This camp is for all the volunteers wishing to discover the organization of a solidary festival and who are not afraid of hard manual work. During the build-up and dismantling days, the volunteers will be working a bit longer than the other days.
Additional fee: Many SCI workcamps will have an additional fee of €50.00. This will cover - local hosting costs; International insurance costs of the volunteer; a small travel fund to enable disadvantaged volunteers to join projects; administration costs of SCI International.
If you apply through an SCI branch, the fee will be included in the fee you pay to your sending branch. If you apply through a partner organisation you will pay the fee on arrival at the project; direct to the hosting branch or through a PayPal transfer system. When accepted on the project the host branch will give you more details of the various payment options.
