The main task for the participants of this work camp consists in putting in place some excavation and restoring activities in the remaining areas around the St. Iscle Castle in Vidreres.
The technical work of the project will be in a full archaeological excavation that aims to explore and dive in the chosen area. The work will be organized as follows: small groups of people will be made, part of which, on a rotating basis, will do tasks of cleaning and classification of the archaeological material, while the rest will dig each of the sectors described.
Participants will be provided with the necessary tools and the archeologists that will support them and will teach them the necessary methodology for excavating and restoring the ruins, and the participants also will make drawings and photographs of the different structures.
The main work camp tasks for the archaeological excavation of the various sectors described before, are:
a) Excavation of the interior of the sectors in question using stratigraphic methods.
b) Clearing the walls that make up the various sectors of the castle as they go uncovered.
c) Archaeological record, using sketches, tiles, drawings and photographs, of the various strata and structures that appear.

During work it is aims to raise awareness about the impact of abandonment, the passage of time and some human actions on the historical and archaeological heritage and the importance of its preservation and recovery, through an activity and an active attitude of respect for heritage and its environment.
The various archaeological excavation techniques will be presented, depending on the composition and the nature of the remains that come out, and the registration systems that are used.

All work camps will be implemented in small towns and villages of Catalonia. It is a good chance for volunteers to know more about our country, see its picturesque landscapes and learn its traditions.
Catalonia is situated in the North East of the Iberian Peninsula. It has a territory of 32.108 km2 and around 7.727.029 inhabitants. Catalonia is a European Mediterranean country with a strong personality and very motivated to enhance its customs and traditions.
The Catalan landscape isvery varied: Pyrenean Mountains contrast strongly with coastal regions, the desert landscape is mixed with the most beautiful Mediterranean ones.
The historical invasions and political conquests gave Catalonia the awareness to open its door to intercultural dialogue and to live together with the old tradition of Catalan community and values.
The current administrative structure of Catalonia, after 40 years of dictatorship and denial of its language and traditions, was defined basically by the Statute of Autonomy (1979, revised in 2006) and by the political institutions of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Autonomous Government).

The work camp will take place in the St. Iscle Castle, in Vidreres. It’s a town of the XII Century, a municipality of Girona province where the castle is an important symbol of historical heritage in Catalonia. There will be various activities offered to the participants, such as:
- Visits to "Lloret", "Estanys de Sils" and "Montseny" area.
- Excursions to the "Ermita de Caulès or "Pantans d'en Llobet".

During the camp, leisure activities are developed with coherence that they seek achieve the cohesion of the group of participants and meet the objectives of the field. Some activities, as an example of our line of work, they can be: acquaintance games, gymkhana of acquaintance of the town of Vidreres and its people, Catalan culture workshop: traditional dances and traditional games.
Mask workshop, Catalan bowling matches, excursion to the Caulès hermitage, the Llobet reservoirs, the Montseny, the Sils Lakes.
Stargazing, orienteering race, batucada workshop, non-contact sports night, outdoors dinner, cinema night or group dynamics.
