Come start the work for the future environmental house!
In partnership with Concordia, the town of Macau wishes to enhance citizen involvement and would like to organize various activities for its residents in the future eco-friendly house. To do so, the municipality just bought an old stone house next to the city hall and would like to transform this building into a public eco-space for the inhabitants. With the support of a technical leader, your mission will focus on the fixing the facade of the house. You will take part in the cleansing of the wall (taking away the ivy and the cement) and then in the calking of the wall, using traditional masonry techniques.
You will be working at height, on scaffolding. If you suffer from vertigo, this is probably not the best workcamp for you! If you are not prone to vertigo, working at height is generally very pleasant and allows you to enjoy a beautiful panorama.
You will be accommodated in individual tents in the center of the town with access to bathrooms and showers. You will have at your disposal a collective room where you will share the different collective tasks and prepare meals together. However, neither Wifi nor washing machines are available. A budget will be allocated to the group leaders; you will participate in the grocery shopping and the preparation of the meals, opting for healthy and local products.
At 20 minutes from Bordeaux (train/tram) and 30 minutes from the beaches of Lacanau, this special place will allow you to discover the different landscapes and emblematic heritages of the Gironde while enjoying the local heritage, the Atlantic Ocean and Bordeaux.
Located on the Gironde estuary and in the Bordeaux metropolis in Gironde, Macau is a commune in the southwest of France at the gateway to the Medoc, rich in wine-growing activity and close to beaches and lakes. This workcamp would be the first cooperation between the city of Macau and Concordia. The municipality of Macau is very excited to host a workcamp and will do its best for you to have a wonderful workcamp!
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for them, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
Bring a warm sleeping bag, a camping mat, work clothes, sports shoes, warm and rain clothes, a flashlight or headlight, and of course don’t forget your swimsuit and sunscreen. You can also bring traditional recipes from your home country/region, a musical instrument and games.

Jongeren onder 18 jaar moeten voor vertrek verplicht een training volgen. De kosten hiervoor zijn € 50 euro en worden apart in rekening gebracht.
