Nature lovers, this workcamp is for you!
With this new partnership with the commune of Saint-Jory-de-Chalais, which has an important natural and historical heritage, the Concordia workcamp will aim to rehabilitate the forest house, which could thus welcome the public as well as the hikers who walk the many paths in the surroundings. The forest house is in need of a little renewal, you will remove the ivy that has spread, work on the frame, but also weed all around the house to facilitate the access. You will also take care of the paths leading to the house.
If there is enough time, a second task will be yours, to create signposts around the forest house and the walking paths.
Throughout the project, a technical facilitator will accompany you to teach you the different techniques needed to carry out the work.
You will be accommodated in tents near the nature area in the heart of the small town with all the necessary facilities. You will have a collective place for cooking, meals and activities, with access to toilets and showers next to the camp site. There is no Wifi and no washing machine available. You will share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders and you will participate in the shopping, prioritising healthy and local products.
Located in the heart of the Perigord/Limousin region and in the centre of a Regional Natural Park in the Dordogne, Saint-Jory-de-Chalais is a commune in the south-west of France, nestled in a territory of history and nature.
Just one hour from Limoges, you will be immersed in the heart of the countryside, but you will also have the opportunity to visit small villages with beautiful built heritage and to discover the different landscapes of the Dordogne while enjoying the local heritage.
With the animation team, you will have the possibility to organise different activities, especially thanks to the numerous lakes, ponds and forests that litter the territory.
Saint-Jory-de-Chalais is a small rural commune located south of Limoges with a population of just over 600. The elected representatives and the inhabitants are very eager to help you discover the local tangible and intangible heritage! The area in which Saint-Jory-de-Chalais is situated is a tourist destination in summer due to its beautiful landscape and ideal climate!
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for them, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
Bring a sleeping bag, a thick mattress, work clothes, walking shoes, rain gear, a torch, but above all don't forget your swimsuit and sunscreen. You can also bring recipes from your country/region, musical instruments and games to share with the other volunteers and locals !
