Come discover the small town of Avricourt, a typical village of the Picardie region!
You will take part in the renovation of the small church of Avricourt, one of the few churches in the area that overcame the First World War.
In the continuity of the masonry work of the previous workcamps you will participate in the renovation of this small church. You will carry out traditional masonry work on the large facade of the church: repairing the joints of the walls, staking, repointing and even laying new bricks and stones. Part of the work may be at height and require climbing on scaffolding.
You will have the multi-purpose hall of the village at your disposal as a place to live, which includes a well-equipped kitchen (community oven, dishwasher, big fridge etc.). Individual tents will be provided as well as a fallback solution in the multi-purpose hall in case of bad weather. Please note that there is only one shower and one toilet to share. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the grocery shopping and in the preparation of meals, prioritising products from the market and local producers.
Avricourt is located 15 km from Noyon, in the North of Oise. In a central location in Picardie, you can visit Amiens, its cathedral and its “hortillonnages” (floating gardens), Compiegne and its imperial palace, Noyon and its historical center. You can also hike in the surrounding countryside between cereal fields and small pasture valleys. If you are a nature lover, you would even discover the educational beehive with the school children and the beekepers of a small local producer. A concert given by the local band in the church is planned the day before the departure of the volunteers.
The commune of Avricourt is a historical partner of our office. This small commune of barely 200 inhabitants does everything possible to give the best welcome to the volunteers: village meals, invitations to eat, donations of jams and other vegetables from the garden are a classic in Avricourt. In short, many exchanges are to be scheduled, especially since with the help of the camp leaders you will organize meetings and animations in the village and at the school.
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
Please bring work clothes for the site and closed shoes. For the accommodation in tent, think of your sleeping bag as well as a sleeping mat for more comfort. You can also bring a raincoat and a jumper in case of chill weather and for the evenings.
You can also bring back specialties from your country, photos, musical instruments, in short what you like and want to share on this site, either with the local population or with the group!
Work on scaffolding will be done, if you suffer from vertigo, this might not been the right workcamp for you.

Jongeren onder 18 jaar moeten voor vertrek verplicht een training volgen. De kosten hiervoor zijn € 50 euro en worden apart in rekening gebracht.
