The program needs more space, and now they are going to rebuild/renovate an old house for their activities in the village close to their existing youth centre. As volunteers, we invite you to support the renovation work. It will include wall dismantling, brickwork, plasterboarding, tiling, flooring, plastering, painting, etc. The work will be scheduled from 8.30 am till 4 pm with small breaks in between. They have a foreman who has the qualification and ability to break down the working processes for small tasks that everyone is able to carry out. No specific experience is required for this work and it will be lighter physical work, not wall breaking or cementing, so feasible for girls and boys equally.
IDH Hungary has a Children and Volunteer Centre which volunteers built from donations from individuals and companies in Herndászentandrás (3852 Hernádszentandrás, 91 Táncsics út). The accommodation will be there in big rooms of 12 beds, one room reserved for volunteers. They can provide bedsheets, but you may bring your own sleeping bag and towels. In the Center, there is a big and well-equipped kitchen. Cold food will be provided for breakfast and lunch and there will be hot meals for dinner after work cooked by local families or orders from restaurants nearby. Vegetarian, gluten and lactose-free food will be available.
Hernádszentandrás is located in a beautiful area in the North East of Hungary, close to the Slovakian border. The nearest big town is Encs 7km and Miskolc 40km away. The village has about 400 inhabitants. There is a small shop and a pub, and a restaurant in the next village, Pere. On your free days, you can visit Miskolc or Kosice, or the most famous Hungarian wine region: Tokaj. If you like nature you can hike up to the ruins of Regéc castle, Boldogkővárlja castle or to Zemplén-mountains which has one of the wildest forests in Hungary, with many natural sights.
InDaHouse Hungary is an association that works with young people having fewer opportunities to live in Borsod county. The organization operates with volunteers who donate their time and knowledge to hold individual and group sessions for children to improve their social and learning skills. The goal of the activities is to empower them to become responsible adults with plans and fulfilment and with the ability to pass this knowledge on to the next generations. They have an early childhood development program for kids under 6, and they study individually with the older ones (from 6 to 18) to practice comprehension, mathematics and English.
You should be fit enough for physically demanding work. No special documentation is necessary. No COVID-19 vaccine requirements. No language requirements, but we require a way to communicate with the organizers in Hungarian or English. Please bring clothes that you won't regret getting dirty during construction, your sleeping bag and personal medicine. Please book refundable plane tickets in case the workcamp needs to be cancelled.

Jongeren onder 18 jaar moeten voor vertrek verplicht een training volgen. De kosten hiervoor zijn € 50 euro en worden apart in rekening gebracht.
