Talking Drums is a special project that aims to teach to local youngsters to play the ryhtm instruments. In the village of Prioro, there was used to be a tradition of finalising the summer with a drum festival, in which all the locals play drums with rhythmic insturments. In the last years, there is no one left in the village who knows how to play the drums. This workcamps aims to bring volunteers who has a bit of music or rhythm knowledge to teach the local youngsters how to play drums.
Together with the adult volunteers, there will be an international teenage group composed of 6 volunteers.
Everyday, there will be workshops of rhythm and how to make instruments from recycled materials. In the end of the camp, volunteers will play in the drum festival, toghether with the local youngsters.
The task of the volunteers will be organising the workshops together with the minor volunteers and team leaders and showing the essentials of the rhythm to the locals. Minor volunteers won't have knowledge of rythm so adult volunteers have to take over the guidance.
On the last days of the project, the group will be playing in the local festivals of the town together with the locals.
The accommodation will be done in a small volunteer house with several rooms. The accommodation is very very basic, there will be matresses but not too many more things inside the house. There will be bathrooms facilities and a kitchen where the volunteers can cook in the team. Sleeping bag is required.
The volunteers will be sharing the accommodation with the teenage volunteers.
Prioro is a municipality located in the province of León, Castile and León, Spain. The municipality has a population of 369 inhabitants. Even though the village is very small there is a circulation with the other villages around. It is 86 km to the Léon city.

Jongeren onder 18 jaar moeten voor vertrek verplicht een training volgen. De kosten hiervoor zijn € 50 euro en worden apart in rekening gebracht.
