In this workcamp, you will prepare the summer festival “Neresheim in Bloom”, which will be opened on July 22. Your main tasks will be to
• build, move and install various flowerbeds;
• build up a summer playground for children to use during the festival;
• help to prepare for the opening ceremony on July 22.
Your work in the park also includes tasks like digging up the lawn in order to prepare the flower beds, so be prepared to work with earth and soil. You will work together with municipal workers and members of diverse local associations.
The work will be led by a professional instructor, so no previous experience is needed. You will work around 30 hours per week, somewhere between 8am to 4pm from Monday to Friday with a lunchbreak.

You will be accommodated in the building of the local fire station, which offers one big room for sleeping, toilets and a kitchen. You will sleep on camp beds, so please bring your own sleeping bag – and a pillow if you need one. The showers are located in the public swimming pool, which is only a 200m walk away. Supermarkets can be easily reached by foot.
Your group of volunteers will be responsible for grocery shopping and cooking together. The food will be bought with the camp budget and everybody will take turns for cooking, washing the dishes and cleaning. In order to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet, we encourage volunteers to reduce meat and try more sustainable dishes.

Neresheim is a small but lively town with around 8,000 inhabitants. The region around it is called the “Härtsfeld” and it is located in the east of the Swabian Jura, a mountain range in the region of Baden-Württemberg. Neresheim is the cultural centre of the Härtsfeld, which is why you can find more than 100 local clubs, associations and youth initiatives there; a lot for the town’s size! This cultural dynamism will give you many possibilities to interact with locals and to discover the local culture. In your free time, you will find attractions directly in Neresheim like the famous Abbey, the local museum and open air or indoor swimming pools. The beautiful nature surrounding it also invites you to explore and hike the local trails. On weekends you can also go on excursions to town and cities like Aalen, Ulm or Stuttgart or reach the banks of the Danube River. The municipality of Neresheim is even planning to organise a bus for your excursions!

For the third time, Neresheim will organize the festival “Neresheim in Bloom” (Blühendes Neresheim in German), which will start on July 22 and last until September 2023.
The goal of Neresheim’s municipality is to bring life and colour to the town by filling the streets and parks with flowers, art pieces and cultural events during the summer months. Indeed during this time a lot of cultural events like concerts, comedy shows, lectures, sports competitions, hiking trips or beer tastings are organised. The local associations, artists and municipal workers work together to prepare the town for the event and they are counting on your help! By helping Neresheim prepare the festival you will help facilitate sustainable cities and communities (UN SDG 11).
