You will work on the "Hochtalsteig" (High Valley Trail), a 16km award-winning circular hiking trail through the heights of the Black Forest with beautiful views.
Specific tasks include:
+ setting steps on a steep ascent,
+ spreading bark mulch and wood chips along a muddy stretch of trail
+ remove Blackberry bushes where they grow into the path.
+ improve a viewing platform
+ relocate wooden benches for people to rest on from the bottom to the top of the trail
You will work under the professional guidance of staff from the municipal service department. But please be aware that autumn can be cold and windy in the mountains – so please be prepared for long outdoor activities.
You will stay at 1.100m altitude in a mountain hut surrounded by forest and pure nature. The hut was build by the black forest hikers association. You will find a simple kitchen, a room for having meals and spending free time and a dormitory with mattresses on the floor. There are two toilets and running (cold!) water. Electricity is provided (but mainly used for the lights, only very few plugs). Please bring a sleeping bag. Of course there is no Wi-Fi and there are also no showers. You will be able to use the showers at the local campsite, but it is several kilometres away. Therefore, shower times and transport to the campsite need to be coordinated within the group.. So, it is a special experience and an extraordinary place to stay if you agree with simple conditions.
Bernau is located in the highest part of the black forest. The accommodation is at an altitude of more than 1.000m. As many tourists visit the area in summer and winter, you can find many attractive places, sights and leisure time offers. But of course the nature is the highlight in itself. A perfect camp for nature lovers!
This is the perfect project for people loving simple life and outdoor activities in the mountains. Bernau is the name of a collection of hamlets in the heights of the Black Forest. It is surrounded by beautiful nature with high moors, forests and mountain pastures. You will stay in a mountain hut and improve a labeled hiking path. The village attracts many tourists, hikers in summer and people doing Nordic skiing during winter. Parts of this fantastic landscape are a nature protected area. Therefore, it is very important to make it accessible to people but at the same time, it is important to make the paths attractive and guide visitors so that they don’t leave the established paths and damage the nature.

Jongeren onder 18 jaar moeten voor vertrek verplicht een training volgen. De kosten hiervoor zijn € 50 euro en worden apart in rekening gebracht.
