The work in the camp will be divided in two different “areas” . In the very beginning of the camp for one week the volunteers will be involved in the organization of a music festival which will be organized in the community park. The festival will last 3 days where music animation and conferences will be in the programme. The volunteers will be asked to help support the organization and unfolding of the festival. The work will be with the young volunteers of the association which have a long tradition in the organization of the festival. The volunteers will be involved during the mornings and the afternoon will be free to join the community or the beach. During the weekend when the festival will start the involvement will be concentrated in the evening. The second week the work will be concentrated in cleaning the river bank and the enrichment of an area were a local association is creating an open air land art museum. There will be time for relaxing and enjoying nature.
Volunteers will be accommodated in the school gym where they can use the toilets and showers and a space will be used to cook, so volunteers can have their meals together, but they will also be invited to join the staff of Frades and the community to enjoy the territory and local food together, as well as share their traditions. Please bring with you national food for the international evening, music instruments and good mood.
Serramanna is a town of around 10.000 inhabitants. The town income is generated by agriculture and services. Serramanna is the town where the Sardex was founded, a complementary currency which is very popular in Sardinia and internationally. We are located 25 km from the main town and 40 minutes from different beaches, where you can enjoy the beautiful sea of Sardinia. The town is culturally very active, and the population very friendly and open minded.
The camp is promoted and organized by the local municipality of Serramanna in cooperation with the associations present in the community. The cultural department of the municipality is supporting different activities promoted directly or by the local organizations.
This year there will be the 18th edition of the music festival called “Frades” - “Friends”. The festival will start again after 3 years of stop due to the COVID. This year we would like to relaunch the activity with the involvement of the international volunteers. The organization of the festival will keep the volunteers involved for one week, the second week the work will focus more on the environmental work with cleaning the river nearby the town. The aim of the workcamp is to create opportunities for cultural sharing and exchange between volunteers and the local community and to promote active citizenship through work with youth organizations and contribute to create an international environment. By joining this workcamp you will contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals: SustainableCommunities-SDG11
The project involves 20 local volunteers who will work in cooperation with international volunteers.

Jongeren onder 18 jaar moeten voor vertrek verplicht een training volgen. De kosten hiervoor zijn € 50 euro en worden apart in rekening gebracht.
