Work: You will rake, turn and pile hay in the nuns' garden, remove invasive trees in the orchards, try to produce biochar, landscape the monastery garden, maintain the community garden, and sort building stones from the reconstructed parts of the monastery. We would also like to dedicate one day of work to the local community, which we will probably help with the maintenance of the park. The work will be varied and adjusted to the physical abilities of the volunteers and the weather conditions. Part of the team will always be involved in cook-ing for everyone from provided ingredients - for environmental and ethical reasons, we will cook only vegetari-an food. No previous experience is required. Bring suitable clothes and shoes for work that can get dirty or damaged.

Study part: You will have an opportunity to present the culture and cuisine of your country to the local com-munity or children from local schools. You will also go on a guided tour of the Porta Coeli monastery and see parts of the monastery where the public is not allowed. You will learn a lot about the history of the monastery, which also represents the history of Moravia and the Czech Republic. There is also a brewery on the grounds of the monastery, so volunteers can learn about beer production during the excursion. We will also organize a guided tour of Brno or a visit to Pernstejn Castle.

The project is organized in cooperation with the association Hojnost (abundance) which sees the future in collaboration and living soil. Therefore, they support organic farming and a dignified and meaningful life in the countryside such as a restoration of the old orchards of the Porta Coeli monastery, a self-sufficient community garden and projects aimed at environmental education. The goal of the project is to help with all those activities and to mingle with the local community. In this project, you are actively contributing toward the achievement of the UN SDG11 Sustainable Cities and Communities and UN SDG15 Life on Land.
