It is situated at the edge of a forest, and it is possible to reach the gardens of Douave via a path taken by many hikers. In the village, there is a former house of wine production, an interpretation trail and works of art. To add value to this place you will renovate a surrounding wall which has crumbled some months ago, for around 6 hours per day. You will learn techniques of traditional masonry (wall-building) and work with a lime mortar. You will evolve as a team with the help of two campleaders and share all tasks associated with collective life such as cooking, cleaning, after work activities, etc.
Close to the sports hall of the town, you will sleep in large tents. Bring your own banket or sleeping bag and pillows. There is a kitchen and showers can be taken at the locals’ homes.
You will need to walk around 10 minutes through the village to get to the work site. For other trips like going shopping or visiting the surroundings, the locals will be gladly willing to help.
Accompanied by the campleaders, you will make the menu and prepare in turn the meals every day. There will be the possibility to eat vegetarian or vegan and plan accordingly if necessary. You will often share meals with the villagers giving you the opportunity to discover the local gastronomy and to share precious moments together.
The community of Champlitte (70600) is situated at around 20km from Gray (70100) in the region “Haute-Saône”. The city Dijon is around 50km away, Vesoul 65km and Besançon 70km.
Leisure activities: Your group will initiate and organize the free time activities during the afternoons or the weekends. The ideal programme will account for the wishes of everyone, the local possibilities (museum, châteaux, summer concerts, hikes, etc) and financial side of things.
You can also rely on the support of the inhabitants to organize exchange moments and they will be delighted to take part with you or to give advice on how to discover the local environment and enjoy your stay in the best way.
The village of Champlitte, prized as a “town of character“ and referent of the development of “la Via Francigena”, will welcome an international workcamp this year. The inhabitants have had a strong experience of solidarity with the volunteers that came there almost 20 years ago, and they would like to renew this program! This includes discovering new and different ways of thinking and acting, sharing skills, investing oneself to develop an area and taking part in the collective life: there will be many possibilities to promote solidarity! Each workcamp offers unique experiences, so come to Champlitte and make your own!

Jongeren onder 18 jaar moeten voor vertrek verplicht een training volgen. De kosten hiervoor zijn € 50 euro en worden apart in rekening gebracht.
