The first week will be in Bogotá where the international and local volunteers together (approx. 15) with coordinators participate in the pre-camp organization: first aid and psychological training, material preparation and some fund-raising event. On the 14th of December morning the group will go by a private bus to the village, El Alto del Frisol. After the arrival, in the afternoon there is preparation for the week. The rest of the week, half of the group is going to be at the school doing the workshops with the kids and the other half is going to be helping at the permaculture farm. In the afternoons the volunteers visit the houses of the people of the village to see if they need help with anything.

Accommodatie en maaltijden

During the first week, the international volunteers are hosted by the local volunteers (hopefully all together). During the second week, the volunteer group will stay at the school of "El Alto". The volunteers will cook here.

Locatie en vrije tijd

The project will take place in 2 places: The first week in Bogotá and the second will be in "El Alto del Frisol. "El Alto" is a village in the municipality of La Mesa in Cundinamarca, located 2 hours away from Bogotá. It is a rural place, but being so close to the capital of Colombia, it is in one of the most forgotten regions in the country. There will be free time to visit some places in Bogotá in the 1st week. During the 2nd week, the group will visit a natural waterfall and the Christmas festivities like the “novenas” and the masses.

This camp will be carried out in cooperation with a non-profit foundation entity that works to create notebooks and other school supplies from recycled materials like cereal boxes and recycled paper. They donate these to kids in vulnerable communities in different parts of Colombia where through volunteering they also give workshops about mental health, entrepreneurship, ecology, art and environmental issues.
