During the first week the volunteers will stay in Bogotá, The first 1-2 days there will be for team-building activities with the local/national volunteers. The other days the group will help to plan and organize activities and all the things needed for the second week in Quibdó (Chocó): making notebooks with recycled materials, organizing and preparing school kits, creating posters and collecting donations outdoors by selling the notebooks. There will be free time and activities to discover Bogota, too. Some activities and workshops are already planned for the second week, but the idea is that the international and Colombian volunteers together propose and plan more activities while staying in Bogotá. The project partner is open to any ideas and skills. On Sunday 26 of June, the volunteers will travel along with the foundation staff and the national volunteers by plane to Quibdó, Chocó. (duration: 1h) (The round trip ticket Bogotá-Quibdó-Bogotá is included in the extra fee) The aim of this project is to reach a community that has been forgotten by the state. Quibdo is one of Colombia’s most isolated cities. Although it is situated just a 55 minute flight from Bogotá the two cities appear as if they were from different continents let alone from the same country. Quibdó is one of the poorest cities in the country, pretty much only the city center has paved streets and concrete buildings. There is no decent water or sewage system. Once in Quibdó, the volunteers will share one week with the local community to learn about their culture and here they will carry out activities and workshops for the children, youth and adults of the community. The activities include workshops about entrepreneurship, personal growth, ecology, emotional skills and family values for more than 200 boys and girls, and 100 young people from Quibdó. All these workshops and activities will be carried out through arts and craft. The volunteers will help and assist with these workshops and they have to run their activities planned during the first week. Additionally, the volunteers will also help to build, paint and prepare a soccer field for the community and the local football team.

Locatie en vrije tijd

BOGOTÁ: Bogotá is the capital of and largest city in Colombia. It is a place of convergence for people from all around the country and is therefore diverse and multicultural. Within this city, the past and present come together. The city is also very green thanks to its parks and the hills that extend along its eastern boundary, dwarfed by their two highest points, Monserrate and Guadalupe. The landscape that the people of Bogotá enjoy daily—the sea of green that makes up the Andes mountain range, rising up in the east—would be nearly impossible to find in any other large city. Thanks to this fusion of the past and present, Bogotá is an ideal location with history, entertainment, delicious cuisine, culture, business, and much more. These unique factors make Chocó a blend of rich forests, beautiful rivers, and magnificent beaches, which are currently a resounding success with both Colombian and foreign tourists. The department also has municipalities of great interest for tourists. Quibdo, the department's capital, embodies the magic of the Colombian Pacific. The city, located on the banks of the Atrato River, has a boardwalk where you can enjoy magnificent sunsets. From Quibdo, you can also board small boats that will take you to nearby communities where you can enjoy local food and dance to the tones of a marimba. 2 days of ecotourism around Quibdó is also included in the extra fee, will be the last 2 days during the 2nd week. This project will be carried out in cooperation with a nonprofit organization that works to create notebooks and other school supplies with recycled materials like cereal boxes and recycled paper. The payment must be done at the latest 1 month prior to the project starting via bank transfer / Paypal. To enter the country either Certificate of vaccination or a Covid test is required.
