WORK: The volunteers will continue with the masonry work in the upper part of a section of the aqueduct as well as with the construction of the wooden truss using traditional methods that will serve to restore one of the arches of this historical monument, the removal of the joints in poor condition, and their restitution using lime to prepare the mortar with cactus additive (mucilage) to fill the joints. They will also work on facing the stone in some parts of the aqueduct. Awareness activities will be carried out with the local population on the importance of protecting their cultural heritage. In addition, they will organize recreational activities at the end of the day and there will be rest days where they will be able to visit important landmarks in the region.
ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will be housed in a house with all services. Volunteers need to bring a sleeping bag.
Cuautla is a city where many activities can be done and with an important historical background. Public swiming polls are well known in the region because of their atural properties. Also there are hills nearby as well as archaeological zones than an be visited.
PROJECT: The aqueduct of the ex-hacienda of El Hospital in the city of Cuautla, has been the object of an enhancement by AMVIAC in collaboration with local authorities, national and international civil associations, professional associations and many other actors since 2019. More than 20 volunteer camps have been carried out in this aqueduct with the participation of more than 450 volunteers. The tasks carried out by the volunteers have been in the field of architecture, civil engineering, history, biology, archeology, carpentry, among others. The project's objective is the participation of the local community in this enhancement and to generate a touristic, economic, cultural and social development of the region.
REQUIREMENTS: Interest in cultural heritage issues and ease of adaptation to the collective dynamics. Bring material from your country or state, as well as some traditional items to show the local people about your culture. Being open to learning and recognizing the values of others and being willing to work in a team and to community life.

Jongeren onder 18 jaar moeten voor vertrek verplicht een training volgen. De kosten hiervoor zijn € 50 euro en worden apart in rekening gebracht.
