Come and discover the unique art world of Moralès, a historical heritage from the shipyards of Port-de-Bouc!
This year, we offer you the opportunity to take part in a unique renovation project of iron sculptures by the mediterranean sea.
You will work on the cleaning and varnishing of the works of art and learn how to maintain metal equipment in this especially beautiful site of the South of France.
At the end of your work, the artworks will be moved into a dedicated space for the artist in order to revive the artistic impulse of this former blacksmith. This project is part of a global restoration project of Raymond Moralès' artworks, led by the town of Port-de-Bouc for many years.

You will be accommodated at the municipal campground, by the sea. You will each have your own individual tents provided by Concordia and a collective living space (hammocks, tables and chairs, relaxation area, cooking area) will be set up.

Remember to bring your sleeping mats and winter sleeping bags (very important!!).

Sanitary facilities are located in buildings on the campground. You will share the different tasks of daily life and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the camp staff and you will participate in the shopping and the preparation of the meals, giving priority to healthy and local products.

Port-de-Bouc is a town in the south of France located in the Bouches-du-Rhone department, 45 km northwest of Marseille. Embracing the sea and the Laguna of Berre, the city asserts its industrial and maritime vocation and becomes therefore a marine land. The art of boat making and the transformation of energy from the sea have found their home there. The town of Port-de-Bouc is famous for its militancy and resistance, its commitment to young people and its cultural initiatives. Port-de-Bouc, industrial port, host to cultures.

Another Concordia volunteer work camp is organised at the same time in the neighbouring town of Istres. You will have the opportunity to meet this second group of volunteers during the off-duty activities!

This workcamp is like no other and has shown an extraordinary motivation (almost as great as the artworks!) to carry out this project. In partnership with Concordia, this is the second workcamp that the town of Port-de-Bouc organises and it is very important for them that your time there remains unique and memorable!

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.

This project is supported by the program European Solidarity Corps (ESC) for young people between 18 and 30 years. It is open to all volunteers that fit the ESC criteria.
The participation to the ESC volunteering teams is subjects to several principles and conditions, presented on the ESC webpage: https://europa.eu/youth/solidarity/mission_en
- volunteers do not have to pay any fee (not sending, nor participation fee) to attend the project and will receive a financial support for their travel, according to a maximum amount established in accordance with their travel distance and upon the presentation of original tickets;
- volunteers need to enrol in the PASS, the ESC Portal; then Concordia France will organise their matching, on the online system, with the volunteering project;
- volunteers will receive pocket money, calculated on basis of 6€/day, once they arrive on the project in France;
- volunteers will have to complete a participation report, submitted online through the portal.

Please bring good shoes, working clothes and a swimsuit for the courageous ones! You should also take sun protection: sunglasses (for the water's reflection), a cap (or similar) and sunscreen. As nights can be quite cold, remember also to bring warm clothes and a warm sleeping bag. You can also bring traditional recipes from your home country/region, an instrument of music and games.

If you are coming first by plane, remember that you will need some time to commute from the airport to the train station, therefore we recommend that you arrive early enough for you not to rush and have a stress free travel.
If possible, please consider using low-carbon emissions’ transportation (train and bus rather than airplane) for a sustainable international workcamp.

On the last day (03/05), the departure time is usually set in the morning.

Het inschrijfgeld voor dit project bedraagt € 345, exclusief € 50 korting voor studenten en jongeren onder de 18.
