Meet children and teenagers who are invisible in our society. Together, break down the barriers of disability and enjoy an enriching human experience!
You will be welcomed at the Institut Médico-Educatif (IME) Jean-Louis Pirel, located in the small town of Veyre-Monton. This institute takes in children and teenagers with intellectual disabilities. You will be working alongside them and their educators throughout the project.
Your aim will be to create a space for relaxation and interaction for the teenagers and young adults at the IMPro. To do this, you'll be building a wooden deck as well as wooden modules of various sizes so that the young people can sit down, rest or play board games.
You will spend around thirty hours a week on this project. Working alongside a technical coordinator, you'll be able to learn or improve your tool handling skills and take part in a range of manual tasks.

You will be accompanied by two camp leaders throughout your stay.
You will be accommodated in a tent in the neighbouring commune of Les Martres-de-Veyre, with access to sanitary facilities and showers nearby. You'll have access to a multi-purpose room with kitchen facilities for meals and relaxation.
The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of meals, prioritising products from the market and local producers.

The small village of Veyre-Monton is located 15 minutes from Clermont-Ferrand and Issoire, close to a troglodytic site dating back to the Middle Ages. It is listed as a remarkable and picturesque site, and lies at the foot of the Puy de Marmant, a small volcano forming part of the Chaîne des Puys, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The commune is also just 15 minutes from Lac d'Aydat, a volcanic lake and the largest natural lake in Auvergne, where you can swim or ride a paddle-boat.
As you can see, it's ideal for those who love nature walks, swimming and discovering the local flora and fauna.
The Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park offers a wide range of hiking trails.

Located in the commune of Veyre-Monton, the IME Jean-Louis Pirel is managed by the ADAPEI 63 association, which represents a large number of people committed to defending the interests of disabled people and their families. Its values: the right of disabled people to express themselves and participate, the right to high-quality care and respect for their integrity. ADAPEI 63 has already hosted several international workcamps!
The IME Jean-Louis Pirel is home to 60 intellectually disabled children and teenagers aged 6 to 20. This workcamp aims to improve the living environment for young people at the IME, create links between young people from different backgrounds and promote inclusion and living together, so that everyone benefits from the same rights to develop as an individual and a member of society.
This is the first project to take place in the home, and the team and young people are looking forward to seeing you there!
In the afternoons and evenings, some meetings with local young people will be organised during the stay: board game evenings, intercultural meals, workshops... All your ideas are welcome!

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
This project is supported by the program European Solidarity Corps (ESC) for young people between 18 and 30 years. It is open to all volunteers that fit the ESC criteria.
The participation to the ESC volunteering teams is subjects to several principles and conditions, presented on the ESC webpage: https://europa.eu/youth/solidarity/mission_en
- volunteers do not have to pay any fee (not sending, nor participation fee) to attend the project and will receive a financial support for their travel, according to a maximum amount established in accordance with their travel distance and upon the presentation of original tickets;
- volunteers need to enrol in the PASS, the ESC Portal; then Concordia France will organise their matching, on the online system, with the volunteering project;
- volunteers will receive pocket money, calculated on basis of 6€/day, once they arrive on the project in France;
- volunteers will have to complete a participation report, submitted online through the portal.

During this workcamp you will be working with mentally disabled children and young people. We expect you to be responsible and respectful and to adapt to the needs of residents.
Nights can be cold, so bring a good sleeping bag and warm clothes. Bring work clothes, walking boots and a backpack. You can also bring recipes from your home country, musical instruments and games. You will get around by foot, car and punctually in minibus.
