Take part in the rediscovery of the Camparian ruins in the pretty commune of Canéjan! Set between a lake and a pine forest, the workcamp will take place on the site where archaeological excavations in 1966 uncovered the ruins of a chapel and a monastery.
Together, you'll dig and clear one of the two areas to reveal the foundations of the ancient monastery. You will be accompanied by a technical leader who will show you masonry techniques to rebuild and protect the low stone walls.

You will be accommodated in individual tents, with sanitary facilities, a kitchen and a communal living room where you will enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. You will share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders, and you will help with the shopping and preparation of meals, giving priority to healthy, local produce. WIFI available, laundry done by hand.
Together, you'll help organise community life (cleaning, activities, etc.) and take turns preparing meals using locally sourced produce. We want to encourage vegetarian eating with local, seasonal produce, while respecting participants' diets and discovering local cuisines together.

The commune of Canéjan is situated in the middle of a pine forest, and is home to a lake, the Lac Vert, as well as numerous sports facilities (stadiums, BMX area) and cycle paths. It is less than an hour from Bordeaux and close to the Atlantic coast and its beaches.

Camparian, a locality in the commune of Canéjan, is home to the ruins of an ancient priory. Documents attest to the existence at Camparian of a hospital on the route to Santiago de Compostela as far back as the early 12th century.
Excavations were carried out between 1966 and 1970, and again in 2010. These uncovered the ruins of a chapel and a monastery. The local authority now wants to enhance the area and bring the ruins back to life, so that the site attracts local residents and becomes a place to learn about history.

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.

Bring a sleeping bag, a thick mattress, work clothes, walking and work shoes, warm clothing and rain gear, a torch, a swimming costume and sun cream.

The meeting point is at Bordeaux SNCF station on 05/07 in the late afternoon.
Het inschrijfgeld voor dit project bedraagt € 345, exclusief € 50 korting voor studenten en jongeren onder de 18.
Let op: naast het inschrijfgeld betaal je ter plekke nog een lokale bijdrage van € 250.
