Do you want to make yourself useful while discovering an exceptional site, rich in history and legends in the heart of nature? This project is for you!
We're offering you the chance to work on the restoration of an old wash-house in the heart of the mediaeval old town of Marvejols. You'll be carrying out repairs to the wash-house, including the basins and the roof. This washhouse is an important part of the town's history, as women used to come here to wash their clothes and talk to each other about their daily lives. Eventually, the town hopes to get it up and running again. It's very useful work for the residents of this beautiful town, where life is good and tourists and visitors love to stroll around in the summer. Local festivals are organised on the site during your stay, where you can meet the locals. You can also take part in activities organised by the leisure centre and local associations. Note that young English people from the twin town will be joining the group!

You will stay at the municipal field. You will sleep in individual tents (bring your own sleeping bag and sleeping mattress) and live together in a municipal room (equipped with toilets and showers) made available for the group. French volunteers will be able to share their internet connection through a hotspot or you can use the WIFI available. Laundry will be done by hand. You will share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the staff and you will participate in the shopping and the preparation of the meals, promoting healthy and local products.

Marvejols is a small town of 5000 inhabitants located in the Lozere department. You will be totally seduced by the magnificent landscapes and the small mediaeval streets of the city that the site offers. You will be able to take advantage of the leisure and outdoor activities.
You can also take part in the local events organised at this time of year.

Marvejols has a rich mediaeval heritage and an exceptional living environment. The town is looking towards its youth and the world, and wishes to organise this second international youth work camp (15-17 years old). Meetings with local young people, inhabitants and local associations, notably during the town's festivals, will spice up your stay.
We will open the doors of the town to help you discover the history, culture and environment of this heritage jewel, locally known as "La Belle du Gévaudan"!

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If there are health issues on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and then be reimbursed once back in their home country.

Please bring gardening gloves, working shoes and working clothes. As the nights can be quite chilly, remember also to bring warm clothes and a warm sleeping bag. During the day the temperatures can rise up, so bring some sunglasses, sunscreen and a bottle of water !

On the last day (26/07), the departure time is usually set in the morning.
Het inschrijfgeld voor dit project bedraagt € 345, exclusief € 50 korting voor studenten en jongeren onder de 18.
Let op: naast het inschrijfgeld betaal je ter plekke nog een lokale bijdrage van € 250.
