The volunteers' efforts are focused on assisting farmers with their daily tasks, significantly easing their workload. When working with cattle herds, the activities include milking cows, guiding them into enclosures by moving electrified wires, assisting the cheesemaker in various stages of cheese production, collecting wood, and helping with cleaning and meal preparation. In contrast, working with sheep primarily involves managing the flock's movements, as milking is not required. Additionally, maintenance tasks are crucial and involve cleaning paths, roads, and green picnic areas, as well as refurbishing signage and fences where necessary. This comprehensive involvement offers volunteers a deep understanding and hands-on experience of rural farm life.

Volunteers will be accommodated in self-managed alpine refuges, where they will have the opportunity to contribute to daily tasks and meals. The diet will primarily consist of pasta, rice, and other cereals, along with a variety of vegetables, and a limited amount of meat. Options for vegetarian and vegan diets will also be available, ensuring that individual dietary preferences and needs are catered for.

Vallecamonica is one of the most wide valley in the italian Prealps and it is recognized by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve thanks to the extraordinary biodiversity it hosts. Specifically, Gianico and the mountains behind it are lush places with excellent pastures and good water availability. The structures that will host the volunteers are typical Alpine refuges built over the past two centuries and renovated over time. There are chances of spotting wildlife such as marmots, deers, eagles and so on.

Legambiente Vallecamonica was founded in the 1980s on the slipstream of the national ecologist movement. Since its birth the circle has supported and organized initiatives regarding air and water pollution, plastic free, the fight against food waste, sustainable agriculture and sustainable mobility. Nowadays there is an active group of educators who bring environmental education in school here in Vallecamonica. The Camp is also one of its historical activities and it aims to create a healthy cultural exchange that promotes ecological awareness and universal citizenship but enhancing local peculiarities.

A basic level of fitness is necessary for the mountain treks, as participants will be required to carry their personal belongings during these journeys. We anticipate walking for at least two hours each day, so it's important that volunteers are prepared for this physical aspect of the experience.
