WORK: The volunteers will begin with the preparation of the site for the restitution of one of the arches of the aqueduct, carrying out carpentry activities for the construction of the wooden truss using traditional methods without power tools as well as manual cleaning of the aqueduct, removal of the joints in poor condition, plastering of a section of one of the arches, masonry where lime will be used to prepare the mortar with cactus additive (mucilage) to fill the joints. The mucilage will be prepared by the volunteers. They will also work on the quarrying of the stone that will be used in some parts of the aqueduct. Awareness-raising activities will be carried out with the local population about the importance of protecting their cultural heritage. They will also organize recreational activities at the end of the day and there will be days of rest where they can visit important sites in the region

The volunteers will be staying in a house with all services. It is necessary that the volunteers bring a sleeping bag.
Food will be cooked by the volunteers. Thay will have the opportunity to buy goods at the local market. They might be invited by some of the villagers for luch or diner.

The aqueduct is located in the El Hospital ejido in the municipality of Cuautla, Morelos, a city located 100 km from Mexico City. It is a historic city that was the scene of important moments of Independence and the Mexican Revolution.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to visit some iconic places in the city of Cuautla and its surroundings, such as the Old Interoceanic Railway station, the Agua Hedionda Spa, the archaeological zone of Chalcatzingo, the magical towns of Tepoztlán and Tlayacapan, and experience a cycling ride. through the Zapata Tunnels, learn about the production of a cardboard piece, live with local civil associations, among other activities

PROJECT: The aqueduct of the Ex hacienda de El Hospital in the city of Cuautla has been the object of an enhancement by AMVIAC in collaboration with local authorities, national and international civil associations, professional colleges and many other actors since 2019. More than 20 volunteer camps have been held in this aqueduct with the participation of more than 450 volunteers. The tasks carried out by the volunteers have been in the field of architecture, civil engineering, history, biology, archaeology, carpentry, among others. The project aims to involve the local community in this enhancement and generate a tourist, economic, cultural and social development of the region. The aqueduct is a construction from the XVII century of 1.5 kilometers of development in which the use of limestone and partition is observed, joined with mortar of slaked lime and river sand, as well as scraps of the same rock. Its formation is, basically, a succession of semicircular arches throughout its development.

Het inschrijfgeld voor dit project bedraagt € 345, exclusief € 50 korting voor studenten en jongeren onder de 18.
