The project does activities in collaboration with the Treja Valley Park Authority, including the restoration of paths and the cleaning of the forest to encourage sustainable use of the area. In parallel, work will be done with the Fuori Calcata Association to improve the association's house, recently reopened after years of closure: it will be a collective process of renovation and care of the spaces, to make them welcoming and functional. The project also enthusiastically welcomes artists and creative people, invited to contribute ideas and site-specific interventions.

Associazione Fuori Calcata is a cultural and social laboratory created to promote active citizenship and the enhancement of the village of Calcata. It combines environmental protection with the social and cultural promotion of the area. Through events, workshops, courses and community activities, the association encourages the meeting between inhabitants, international volunteers and local realities, creating a space open to participation, creativity and inclusion. A project that aims to strengthen community ties and develop new forms of sustainable coexistence.

Ability to work in a team, interest in nature, artistic and manual skills. Although it is summer, it can be cool in the mountains. No Wi-Fi and little coverage. Beware of allergies (dust, insects). Bring hiking shoes, work clothes, repellent. No supermarkets nearby, but there are restaurants and ice cream places. Games or musical instruments recommended for leisure time.

Please kindly note that there is an additional incoming fee of 50€ for all volunteers applying through Partner organisations or Contacts of the SCI network. Check the status here: https://bit.ly/3vhBD5J. This fee covers hosting costs, insurance, a small travel fund to enable disadvantaged volunteers to join projects and administration costs.
