This year, you will be working on the continuation of maintenance work on the casemates (fortified shelters) at Fort Vauban. Accompanied by a specialist technical supervisor, you will initially be responsible for removing vegetation from the structure, then disjointing and repointing with lime mortar. Next, you will take part in transforming the museum's former storeroom into an educational room. You'll learn how to fit plasterboard panels and finish painting.
You'll learn a range of techniques, including traditional masonry, plastering and painting.
You will be working mornings of 5 to 6 hours. Come with work clothes or clothes that may be damaged or dirty. We will provide you with safety equipment. No qualifications are required for this project.

You will sleep in a 2-person tent at the Fouras municipal *** campsite (swimming pool, multi-sports area, WIFI, etc.). You must bring a warm duvet and a pillow, and we will provide inflatable mattresses. Bicycles are available for use around town. Food will be provided for all meals, with a budget managed collectively by the group and the leaders. Meals, especially lunch and dinner, will be prepared by participants on a rotating basis, ensuring respect for environmental values, local resources, and everyone's cultural preferences. Both hot and cold dishes, as well as vegetarian and vegan options, will be included.

You can enjoy a wide range of activities such as the European Heritage Days, fishing and sailing with the local clubs. The beach, seaside bike rides, beach volleyball and other pleasures are all there for you to discover. You can also visit towns such as La Rochelle and Rochefort. Leisure time and local activities will give you the chance to meet the locals, who are eagerly awaiting your arrival!

Situated at the mouth of the Charente, the Fouras peninsula offers an exceptional setting between beaches and fortifications. For the 10th anniversary of this project, you will be taking part in the renovation of Fort Vauban, an ancient medieval fortress protecting the town from sea invasions. Surrounded by 17th-century fortifications, it bears witness to the region's military history. This project is part of a long-standing partnership with the municipality of Fouras, helping to promote local heritage through an intercultural exchange.
Het inschrijfgeld voor dit project bedraagt € 345, exclusief € 50 korting voor studenten en jongeren onder de 18.
