Volunteers will be accommodated in the host families located in an eco-village. There are standard houses with three bedrooms, living room and kitchen. Basic accommodation facilities will be provided, and you should expect to share room with either host family member or other volunteer from the same or other projects. Food will be provided in the host family as well at the project. Vegetarian meals will be available.

The project is a located in Chamazi a community located about 25km South of Dar es Salaam city and almost the same distance from Julius Nyerere International airport, Dar es Salaam A good number of social services are available including telecommunications, Police station, shopping centers, Pubs, banking facilitates, etc. All this makes the community attractive to live for people who are commuting to Dar es salaam city Centre for work every day. The community is accessible through public and private transport systems. We have a lot to enjoy at the Eco-village including walking in woods and other sports, traditional meals and entertainments, there is also a possibility to visit the National Museum, village museum, city tour. More activities include Dar es Salaam Zoo, swimming and beach activities, visiting the close by Mikuni or Selous National Park. A night in Zanzibar during weekends has been always an option.

In Tanzania, as in any other countries around the world, the topic of sustainable living has become a relevant topic. However, many people may have heard about sustainable living but are not sure exactly what it means. Lack of knowledge and exposure have significantly increased lifestyles that cause more environmental and health damage for future generations to deal with. Sustainable living applies to almost every part of daily life hence there is an importance to be addressed. In response to the issue of sustainable living; the Eco Village (host of this work camp) was established. The Eco-Village initiative is a community designed to address challenges to attain sustainable development. Village members are united by shared ecological, socioeconomic and cultural spiritual values and the village is characterized by efficient energy use, enhanced recreational values, encouraging biogas and local food production, sustainable reliance on local resources and investing in environmental conservation. The overall goal is to build an ecologically balanced society.

The volunteer's English level should be sufficient for daily communication and comprehension. C2 level is not required.

The project is looking for a volunteer who can spend minimum 4 weeks and 12 weeks maximum. He/she should be energetic, inventive and hard working with ideas about creative ways to engage audiences in achieving the organization’s mission. He/she is expected to have knowledge and experience with social media platforms, commitment to professional ethics and abilities to handle sensitive and confidential information. Affinity with Graphic design platforms and Website content management system will be appreciated.
Het inschrijfgeld voor dit project bedraagt € 345, exclusief € 50 korting voor studenten en jongeren onder de 18.
Let op: naast het inschrijfgeld betaal je ter plekke nog een lokale bijdrage van € 300.
