Volunteers are expected to participate in the listed activities below:
- Academic development: Joining remedial classes on various subjects, holiday homework and getting ready for the new coming semester.
- Love nature: Nature tour in the community to discover various animals, insects, worms and plants and appreciate the local ecosystem.
- Hands-on: Establishment of home garden, Ornamental and vegetable planting, composting, garden etc.
- Sports: Indoor and outdoor games that will stimulate learning, team building and activeness.
- Excursions: opportunity for Children to realize the beauty and natural attractions of their own country for the first time (Waterfalls, Lakes, and Wildlife safari). Wildlife safari for the children will depend on the availability of finance and other resources.

Volunteers will be accommodated in a residential house in the community. Expect to share a room with other team members. Volunteers are expected to help in meals preparation, dish washing and kitchen cleaning. Vegetarian meals will be available.

The word "Marangu" means a place with too many water streams. It is one of the most popular places in Tanzania. Located at the foot of Africa's tallest mountain, the quaint village of Marangu offers fascinating insight into both modern Tanzanian life and into the lives of the Chagga people who once withstood vicious Masai raids through the ingenious use of tunnels. Majority of residents are farmers growing bananas, vegetables and coffee. Tourism is also part of activities that contribute to the economy of Marangu. Marangu is located about 40 km east of Moshi town, the capital of Kilimanjaro, it is accessible by both private and public transport. Social services including markets, shops, banks, hospitals are available in the community. Options for leisure activities include: -Wild-life safari: Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Tarangire National parks. There are also various packages depending on your available time and budget like Mount Kilimanjaro climbing, Eco and cultural tourism.

Absence of organized activities for children during their free time and long holiday’s time has been contributing to various numbers of social problems in the community including bad behaviors and manners and it has been contributing significantly to occupation of activities that bring negativity to the children and influencing their social development. This project is therefore organized in cooperation with local community schools to respond to the need. It is expected that this project will provide opportunity for the Children from the age of 4-15 (Most from Nursery and Primary schools) to effectively utilize their holidays time by engaging in activities that support their academic, social development and creativity.
Aangezien je in dit project met kinderen gaat werken, stellen wij het verplicht om een VOG (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag) aan te vragen.

This project is looking for a volunteer who has interest to work with children, interest on children development issues, patient and committed, open minded and ready to be challenged, interested in other cultures and local realities, creative and easy to adapt to the situations and prove to have zero record of criminality against children.
Het inschrijfgeld voor dit project bedraagt € 345, exclusief € 50 korting voor studenten en jongeren onder de 18.
Let op: naast het inschrijfgeld betaal je ter plekke nog een lokale bijdrage van € 300.
